Tight junctions (TJs) are the most apical cell-cell junctions, and claudins, the recently
identified TJ proteins, are critical for maintaining cell-cell adhesion in epithelial cell sheets.
Based on their in vivo distribution and the results of overexpression studies, certain claudins,
